Three GCSE at grades D/3 and grade E/2
Grades are: Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*.
Assessment is by a portfolio of coursework evidence including case studies, presentations, role play and reports etc.
This one year course covers a number of business related topics including Marketing and Finance, Selling and Retail and Starting a Small Business. There is a practical selling event undertaken within the College to add realism to the course and visiting speakers support topic content and preparation of assignments. There are opportunities to learn through classroom exercises, working in groups and developing research skills and also work placement. This course is intended to form the basis of progression to Level 3 Business but will also be career orientated and will include English and Maths development.
Progression to BTEC/OCR Level 3 courses in Business, Law, Media, IT or Finance. Some students may wish to go into employment or undertake an apprenticeship.
Other units include; Business Organisations, Business Purposes, People in Organisations, Financial Forecasting for Business, The Marketing Plan and Personal Selling in Business.
