Money Matters

Gateway College Bursary Fund and Free School Meals (FSM)

All enrolled students at Gateway College are invited to apply for Bursary Funding and Free School Meals to support them with their studies and travel to and from college.  Each application is assessed individually based on household income, adhering to strict government guidelines.

All information provided is confidential and secured securely.  Each student’s payment is unique to them, calculated on their own individual circumstances and based on government requirements.  Students’ payments will be reduced if college attendance drops.

Information for returning students for academic year 2024-2025

If you are a current student who is already claiming the Bursary Fund and/or FSM and are returning in 2024-2025, please read this section carefully.

As part of the financial support we offer at Gateway College, we are making the bursary and free schools meals process easier for returning students.  If your financial circumstances have not changed since we processed your bursary application in the 2023/24 academic year, you will not need to submit any supporting documentation of income/wages/universal credits.

Instead, you can set up a new PayMyStudent account, complete the Gateway Returners Declaration Form online and add your bank account details.  (The bank account details must be the students own account details).

No supporting documentation is required for your returning year of your course, however, the college may request some documentation from you in the future if you are chosen for a random sample for auditing purposes.

If your financial circumstances have changed since the last academic year you will need to make a fresh application on paymystudent and submit new supporting documentation of income/wages/universal credits.

Information for new bursary applicants for academic year 2024-2025

If this is your first application for the Bursary Fund and FSM you will need to set up a new account on PayMyStudent and submit any supporting evidence required.

Please follow the guidelines below and contact the Student Services team if you need assistance completing this.
