Outstanding Student Success on Results Day across A Levels, T Levels, and Vocational Courses

Students have once again achieved exceptional results this year, with outcomes across A Levels, T Levels, and vocational programmes surpassing national averages and setting new records for success.

A Level performance was particularly impressive, with results above the national average in every subject. High grades saw a remarkable 12% increase across both A Level and Level 3 profiles, reflecting the dedication of students and the unwavering support of staff. In some of the highest-achieving subjects, 60% of students secured grades at A*- C.

Across Level 3 courses, students achieved an outstanding 95% overall pass rate. Arts, Humanities, Business, and IT led the way with a 97% pass rate, while Health and Life Sciences students celebrated a strong 90% pass rate. Vocational success was equally impressive: every single T Level student achieved a 100% pass rate, with 98% of results awarded at Merit or Distinction level. Students undertaking Level 3 National Extended Diplomas also excelled, with 74% achieving Merit to Distinction* grades.

James Bagley, Principal of Gateway College stated,

We are very pleased with the continued three year trend in improving outcomes for students at Gateway College; particularly with the increase in the number of high grades achieved at A level and Level 3. This is testament to the hard work of our students and colleagues.

However, we are not just preparing our students for exams.  Their personal development is at the heart of what we do and because of this, their progression to higher education, achievement and next steps are significantly higher than national averages.

Achievement at Level 2 was equally strong, with a 100% pass rate in Arts, Humanities and IT, alongside a 96% pass rate in Business courses. These results highlight the breadth of excellence across all subject areas and progression pathways.

It is a privilege and pleasure to see so many young people securing great outcomes in Business Studies. This is testament to their hard work, passion and commitment over the last two years. It is also a reflection of the fantastic efforts from our Business Studies teaching team, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that students had the opportunity to achieve and enable them to take their next steps.

The year-on-year upward trend in achievement continues to shine through. Overall Level 3 success rose from 82% in 2024 to 85% in 2025, consolidating the college’s reputation for delivering outstanding results and preparing students for bright futures. – Simon Brown, Head of Business

This is a positive picture. We have focussed our efforts on retention and achievement this year and seen a 12% increase in our high grades.

We have seen an increase in our pass rates and high grades across our A level and Level 3 provision alongside an increase in our achievement rates, showing that not only are more students successfully completing their qualifications, they are also achieving better grades in the process. – Josette Moss, Deputy Principal at Gateway College
