This summer it has not only been the temperatures that have soared to record heights but also students’ exam results at Gateway Sixth Form College.
At Gateway College, students progression is key and all study is supported by the College Careers and Employer Engagement Teams who provide individual advice and guidance, bespoke work placements, industry talks, university taster days and careers events to prepare students for their next steps after college.
A recent MiDES Progress Measure report shows Gateway College is number one in the country at delivering Foundation Level 3 Qualifications and has the highest achievement rate for 16-18year olds from all of the colleges in the county and the most recent Ofsted monitoring report from November 2018 echoes this stating,
“The proportion of students who achieve their qualifications has risen considerably and is above the rate for other colleges. Improvements are evident across all provision types and at all levels.”
The 2019 exam results show there has been a further increase in student’s achievements as the College continues to show progress in the improvements it is making.
A Level Results
A Level results up by 7.5% from 2018
100% Pass rates in 14 different A Level subjects including; Art, Criminology, Economics, English Language, English Literature, Fashion and Textiles, Graphics, History, Law, Further Maths, Media, Photography, Sociology and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
High grades, (A*, A and B), are up across all A level subjects with the following subject areas showing particular success:
Further Maths = 100%
Fashion and Textiles = 80%
Law = 71%
Media = 71%
Vocational Level 3 Extended Diploma Results, (equivalent to 3 A Levels)
These have also risen this year with the Pass Rate at an outstanding 98.8%.
High grades are even higher this year with students studying the following subjects doing particularly well:
Vocational Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT = 92% high grades
Vocational Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science = 92% high grades
Vocational Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business = 93% high grades
Vocational Level 2 Results Again another rise in the results with a 97% Pass Rate for the College and 83% at D or D*
