Gateway Students Achieve Outstanding Results

Students and staff waited in anticipation for their results over the summer after two harrowing years of disruption to their lives and education and were not disappointed with the outcomes!

With 100% pass rates in over 50 subjects including Accounting, Chemistry, English Language and Literature, Photography, Physics, Psychology, Criminology, Media, Art and Design, IT and Public Services in Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, A level and pre-degree level 4 courses, celebrations were abound.

2022 saw a 97% pass rate for A Levels and a rise in progression from Level 1 and Level 2 courses onto a Level 3 programme of study.

Many of the young people collecting their results were taking their next steps onto university, higher apprenticeships and employment.

Talaho, who received three A* for his A levels and is going on to study BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and Mathematics at York University said,

“Gateway has been such a brilliant experience for me.  I have made the best friends I have ever made in my life and have felt so supported.”

“Everyone is like-minded and we have pulled each other through the last few years which have been so difficult because of Covid.”

Fellow student Fenisha who received Distinction ** for Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Business and is going on to study BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance at Kingston University added,

“The course has been fun but there have been lots of ups and downs and lots of emotions over the last two years.  It has been very difficult at times because of covid but my teachers were always there.  The exams were stressful, but we had lots of support from our teachers and extra revision and preparation sessions to get us ready.”

Josette Moss, Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Quality at Gateway Sixth Form College went on to say,

“We are really pleased that despite the challenges presented by covid over the last two years our teaching teams and our students have shown great resilience and determination in securing good and outstanding grades against the odds.”

“Our pass rates match the national picture and show that students at Gateway continue to be well prepared and positioned to take their next steps and face the future with pride.”

Celebrating students’ success – Congratulations!
