Standard entry requirements
This course gives you an introduction to the techniques you need for successful film and print production work in the Media. You will develop technical skills and knowledge using Adobe Premiere, Photoshop and In-Design and develop your team working abilities as you work together on video shoots. You will use your skills to create assessed media products, such as radio dramas, short films, TV adverts, DVD covers, posters and short factual films. The structure of the qualification allows time for skills development to be carried out through completion of large-scale projects. The course is assessed by coursework, which may be exhibited at the end of year show.

You can progress to a BTEC Level 3 course in Creative Media Practice or a Level 3 in Games Design, Animation and VFX which can lead to an Apprenticeship or University and a career in the Creative Media sector. This qualification gives learners the opportunity to develop their technical Creative Media skills through a process of self-evaluation, practice and review. This means that learners develop the transferable skills needed to progress to further education and ultimately higher education and employment. The qualification also supports learners in becoming more confident in taking ownership of and responsibility for their own direction, work and choices.
All units are internally assessed coursework and will incorporate multidisciplinary practice. Students will learn a range of practical and technical skills and then determine a project further exploring their own interests, which could encompass moving image, games design, sound production, graphics and publishing.
