A key part of the course is students using IT in the local community.

To access the Level 1 course you need to have gained an Entry Level 3 English qualification.
You need to be keen and motivated to join in with various activities.
You will develop a portfolio of units. For each unit you will be given an assignment brief and a work log book.
You will gain a BTEC Award/Certificate in IT Users Level 1.
This course is for students who would like to develop their IT skills further and plan to work in this area in the future. There are a number of modules you will complete: careers in computing, health and safety in computing, computer basics, programming and media content. A key part of the course is students using IT in the local community. Students also get to use PDAs, play WII games and other devices at college.
In addition to your course specialism, Functional Skills maths and English, Employability Skills and Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) are embedded within your programme of study. At the beginning of your course you will complete a diagnostic assessment to identify your starting point level.
If you complete the ASDAN Short Course Computing and also complete the ASDAN COPE Level 1 Certificate you will be able to progress onto Level 2 I.T
