You must have at least one grade 4 in English or maths; a grade 4 in science, although GCSE Biology is available to support your science skills if you have both your English and maths GCSE but not science. Plus three other GCSEs at grade 3.
Healthcare is one of the fastest-growing areas of the UK and the NHS remains one of the biggest employers but not the only employer of healthcare staff.
This means a healthcare qualification will open up a range of opportunities, giving you the practical and technical skills to build an exciting, and high level, career!
This course is specifically designed to help you transition to the T Level Health course.

You’ll learn the fundamental principles and ways of working in the health and science sector.
Throughout the course, we’ll assess your needs, identifying gaps in learning, so that at the end of your programme, you’ll have the skills and confidence to succeed onto T Level Health
Your programme consists of the following elements:
• Study of your vocational subject through the completion of the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Working in the health sector qualification.
You will also cover units of learning related to Core Science Concepts such as cell structure; Good Scientific & Clinical Practice; and working within the healthcare science sector
• Employability skills, such as punctuality, attendance, communication and team work
• Work experience, giving you a taste of working life
• English or maths or biology, continued until the achievement of GCSE grade 4 or equivalent
• Tutorial and personal development and skills focusing around employability within the healthcare science sector.
This is a key element of this programme, enabling you to develop the skills to successfully complete the T Level Industry Placement, and for future workplace readiness. The course will consist of a 90 hour placement Successful placements often lead to employment. You’ll be prepared for your work experience in advance with talks and pre-visits, ensuring you get the most out of the experience. You’ll also be supported to develop your employability skills – problem solving, interview skills, CV writing and more – as part of the programme.
Working with your Tutors, Careers Coaches and Learning Development Mentor, this element of the programme will be tailored to your individual needs, supporting your progression to T Level.
You’ll receive individual mentoring and personal development tutoring, including:
• Activities to develop confidence and resilience
• Group work to develop communication skills
• Tutorials and seminars, including careers education
• Study skills, with opportunities to develop reading, writing, referencing and interpretation
• Life skills – We’ll also provide you with additional support, if you need it – supporting your learning and wellbeing
You’ll be assessed via a mixture of exam(s) and employer-set projects using a variety of assessment techniques for example video presentation, professional discussions and report writing.
Upon successful completion of this programme will allow you to progress to the T Level Health at Gateway College, other level 3 options or apprenticeships and most it is a qualification that will prepare you for employment in settings where healthcare skills are always in high demand.
