Year 1 of a potential three-year programme
4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 including either GCSE Mathematics or English Language at Grade 4.
Minimum grade 4,3 in Science GCSE or core subject
You will be assessed using a range of assessment methods. These will include observations of you carrying out technical competencies, assignment work, exams and employer set projects.
Your work will be graded as Bronze, Silver or Gold in addition to attendance and professional behaviours. To progress to the next level, learners must achieve a minimum of 60% at Silver or Gold and have passed both Maths and English GCSE with grade 4.

The course is designed to develop the qualities which industry and universities require of successful employees of the future.
The courses assess individuals and differentiates along the way to ensure all skills, behaviours and attributes are developed. At the end of the course learners will be proficient in titrations, neutralisation reactions to prepare a salt, have extensive knowledge of cells, microbiology, inoculation of agar plates, assessing colonies, resistance of antibiotics, the comprehension and application of waves such as generation of images of the human body and the hazards posed in using ionising radiation.
You will study the application of radiation in the medical field and the importance of safely storing gas cylinders such as oxygen in hospitals. The study will be in the form of formative and summative assessment combined with self and peer assessment to develop employability and laboratory competency.
It is expected that if you undertake this qualification you will progress onto a full Level 3 T Level programme either in Health or Science. After you have gained the equivalent of 3 A-levels (& equivalent UCAS points) you can progress along a University Pathway, a higher apprenticeship or employment.
