1 year course
5 GCSEs at grade D/3 and E/2 or above including English Language and Maths grade E/2.
Or pass in a L1 vocational programme, plus L1 English or Maths.
You will be assessed through a combination of coursework and exams.

• Crime and its effects on society and individuals
• Adventurous activities in the Public Services
• Sport and recreation in the Public Services
• Volunteering for the Public Services
• Employability skills in the Public Services
• Preparing to respond to an emergency
This course enables you to develop your confidence and interpersonal skills; there is a strong emphasis on developing personal discipline through individual and team activities. All assessments are course work based through a variety of assessment methods. During the course you may take part in visits to a variety of Public Service organisations and listen to talks from guest speakers in the industry. You will also develop your English and Maths skills.
Students will be able to join the armed forces or progress to Level 3 or obtain an apprenticeship within their selected field.
If you are considering a career in any of the uniformed or non-uniformed services this course may be for you. Progression to Level 3 offers an excellent opportunity to make an informed choice about a career in the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services, Army, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Air Force, Prison Service, Security Organisations, HM Customs, the National Health Service, and Social Work to name but a few.
The course will be enhanced with outside speakers coming into college from the Army, RAF and Police demonstrating what is required for the career. You will increase your Teamwork and Leadership skills by Participating in activities at Outward Bound Centres at various locations and completing an entire unit learning practical outdoors skills and pursuits, leading others in this.
