Standard Entry Requirements
In addition to those published in the College Prospectus, it would be desirable that students have prior experience of an art and design or design and technology course.
Is based on continuous assessment of coursework across the range of units.
This course aims to introduce you to a wide range of skills and techniques in Art and Design through set project briefs covering different disciplines. You will be introduced to drawing, painting, graphics, photography, jewellery, textiles and fashion. The final major project will allow you to focus on a specialism of your choice.
You will work in purposely equipped design studios and develop a range of skills through creativity, investigation and experimentation. You will work independently and also as part of a group.
Most students who study this course progress onto Level 3 Art and Design courses in Art and Design, Fashion Photography, Fashion Accessories, Product Design, Graphics and Fashion and Textiles. Your pathway will depend on grades, especially for English and Maths. This course is essentially a pathway to further study at Level 3, either through a levels or vocational programmes of study.
